“ICTeen” an Erasmus+ project for the gender inclusion. The transnational meeting in Fiumicino hosted by “Io,Noi”
The daily commitment to gender inclusion and the exchange of good practices for the integration of migrant women is at the heart of the project “ICTeen”, founded by the Erasmus + KA2 programme, whose intermediate meeting with the participation of all European partners, hosted by the Fiumicino association “Io,Noi”, took place at the Tiber Hotel on 19 and 20 February and ended with a resounding success.
The ICTeen consortium is composed of the lead partner Innetica, the voluntary association “Io,Noi” for Italy, “Drustvo za Razvijanje Prostovoljnega Dela Novo mesto” for Slovenia, “Terram pacis” for Norway and the association “Sójovem Das saibreiras” for Portugal.
“We are happy and honoured to have hosted organizations from all over Europe – says the president of “Io, Noi” Vincenzo Taurino – because we believe that from cooperation and relations a more fair and supportive community can develop. Moreover, the commitment of our young people for others in a European vocation fills me with pride”.
The transnational meeting was also the occasion for the public presentation of the project to the community and the construction of a territorial network able to facilitate the gender inclusion of migrant women through the use of information and communication technology.
The Councillor for Social Services Annamaria Anselmi, representing the municipal administration of Fiumicino, applauded the initiative of the association “Io,Noi” for its ability to channel positive European energies on the territory and in such a delicate area as inclusion and the fight against gender violence, also on social media.
Angelo Perfetti, director of Il Faro online, gave his technical contribution as a professional journalist to apply criteria of an effective and positive communication for the disadvantaged sections of the population, trying to keep together the primary need to defend rights with a correct information of duties.
The testimony of Sara Pitirra, a member of the C.A.S. of Fiumicino, who is in contact with migrant women every day, and the contribution of Andrea Pantarelli from the HOP association in Ostia, was intense and important.
Alessandro Scassellati Sforzolini, anthropologist and member of FOCUS -Casa dei diritti sociali, strengthened the in-depth analysis of the context and needs of migrant women, providing important ideas for the implementation of the next inclusion activities.
As stakeholders, in addition to an audience of professionals and citizens, representatives of the following organizations also participated: Library for Nonviolence, Nonviolent Movement, Istituto comprensivo Giovan Battista Grassi and ART srl.
“The role of stakeholders is strategic – commented Daniele Taurino, coordinator of the project for Io,Noi – to ensure that the good practices collected and the guidelines developed within ICTeen are disseminated and implemented in the territories. We would like to thank all the partners and participants who have intervened, convinced that it will only be the first step of fruitful collaboration for the community”.
And he adds: “A special thanks also goes to Stefania Pietrini and the Archaeological Superintendence that allowed us to bring our European guests to visit the Imperial Ports of Claudius and Trajan”.
“Experiences like this are an opportunity for personal growth of great value – added Daniele Quilli and Consuelo Bartolucci, voluntary workers in Civil Service of Io,Noi – we hope to be able to bring our contribution to the project and the development of our community in a more supportive and non-violent perspective”.
In the next months other meetings are planned with all the organizations, bodies and administrations that will show interest as well as the experimentation of the guidelines of the project with the target of migrant adolescents, educators and workers in the social field. The last transnational meeting is scheduled in July in Novo Mesto in Slovenia.
